Founded with a Radical Focus

Our philosophy focuses on the importance of discovering vineyards that showcase unique provenance—origin or source—that will define the quality and character of their resulting wines. We reveal the wines’ terroir—soils, microclimates and exposures—as aromas, flavors and textures.

Provenance Estate Vineyard

Willing to break the rules.

Our inaugural release of 1999 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon established Provenance as a Napa Valley Cabernet House, but the winery’s character was defined in 2003. After a few fine-but-not-amazing vintages of Estate Cabernet, we decided to pull out the vines… without our investors’ permission. In their place, we planted Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, rarities amongst the sea of Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. Due to the unique soil of our Estate, these varietals thrived. This willingness to break the rules in the spirit of great winemaking is what defines Provenance Vineyards.

Cabernet Sauvignon Drips

Known for Cabernet true to its source.

To craft superior Cabernet Sauvignon, you must grow superior Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Each of our vineyards brings its own character and sense of place to the wine through the unique soil type, weather patterns, diurnal swings, location and more. Paired with deliberate winemaking, the result is a truly one-of-a-kind Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our Estate Vineyards are 100% Certified Sustainable and Napa Green.

At Provenance, we believe that the land is at the root of great wine. That’s why it’s so important we act as its steward at all times.
