Provenance 2014 Barrel Select Cabernet Sauvignon

Complex nuances of violet and sassafras weave through the generous blackberry and cassis aromas and flavors of our 2014 Barrel-Select Rutherford Cabernet. Subtle notes of wild sage and earthy truffle appear as the wine evolves in the glass. The expansive palate is weighty and richly textured, with dark-fruit character that lingers through the finish. Aging in new French oak barrels added hints of ginger-spice and toasty espresso to the wine’s harmonious fruit and oak balance, while Rutherford “dust” tannins and vibrant acidity provide the wine’s elegant, yet firm, structure.

Provenance 2014 Barrel Select Merlot

Winemaker Trevor Durling succinctly summed up the character of the 2013 Barrel-Select Merlot in one word—awesome. The blend is chosen from 16 of the nest barrels of Merlot; ones that showed extraordinary “sense of place” flavors and plush texture. Both the ideal vintage and outstanding vineyard terroir contributed to the wine’s deep black cherry, blackberry jam, dark chocolate and violet aromas. The focused entry expands into sumptuous dark-fruit flavors with hints of vanilla and baking spice from aging in French oak barrels. Supple tannins and balanced acidity beautifully frame the flavors and carry them through the long finish.
